ALBAWABA - French authorities announced Sunday that rescue teams have saved 230 people from the frigid Channel waters, AFP reported.
France also added that teams also found the bodies of two men on a beach in northern the country, the Pas-de-Calais prefecture said to AFP.
The first man's body was detected on Berck beach, and the second one was seen less than two hours later about 300 metres away, the Pas-de-Calais prefecture added.
France didn't fully confirm their identities, but the prefecture estimated that the two men were migrants trying to swim to a "taxi-boat" or "small dinghy" in the water.
"A total of 230 people" were rescued at sea, French maritime authorities announced.
Authorities further noted that among those saved from the Channel were people who left for the UK but they suffered boat deflated, leaving 57 people in the water near Gravelines.
Despite harsh weather and dangerous conditions, migrants continued to attempt to cross the Channel, even in the middle of winter.
