US-led forces had operations underway "in and around" Baghdad, commanding General Tommy Franks said Saturday.
Franks made his comments in a briefing on the third day of an invasion to oust Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.
"We have ongoing operations in the north, west and south, in and around Baghdad," he said. According to him, US forces had no idea of the whereabouts of Saddam Hussein.
Franks spoke in Qatar, where he is running the war from a command post in this Arab nation. He said the assault on Iraq would be one of "shock, surprise, flexibility," using munitions on a "scale never before seen." (Albawaba.com)
