A fourth planeload of UAE relief assistance to the Afghan refugees in Iran arrived Sunday carrying relief supplies to the refugees who rushed to Iran days before US started it war against Afghanistan.
The relief supplies come in line with the directives of President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to provide the Afghan refugees with all needed relief as quick as the RCS can,.
A total 200 tons of relief assistance were flown to the area for distribution to the refugees who are fleeing the war in the impoverished country.
The RCS has already started setting up a 40,000 capacity refugee camp in on the side of the border of the Irani-Afghani as waves of refugees continue to flood to the area.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also gave his directives to RCS to work on providing the Afghani refugees will releif supplies as soon as they can
UAE’s official news agency (WAM) said that the plane, which was accompanied by an RCS delegation, headed by Suhail Al Qadhi, Director of the Fujairah branch of the RCS.
According to Al Qhadi, the plane had brought 40 tons of various kinds of relief items, which the refugees may be in dire need of.
He said the relief assistance reflects the UAE's support for “our Muslim brothers in Afghanistan”.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) offered during the extraordinary meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) which was held two weeks ago, an initial donation of three million dollars in support of a fund for helping Afghan people.
Meanwhile, the First Lady Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the UAE Women's Federation, has offered Dh5 million for the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan amid continued US strikes against the ruling Taliban ruling militia.
