ALBAWABA- A tragic aviation accident claimed the lives of four people today after a small Cessna 180 single-engine plane crashed in Trilla, central Illinois.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the aircraft went down around 10:15 a.m. local time after striking power lines in a rural area near the unincorporated community.
Emergency responders from police and fire departments rushed to the scene, but all four occupants were pronounced dead. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
This incident adds to a growing series of aviation mishaps in the United States in recent weeks. Just last week, a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River, killing one person.
Days earlier, a small passenger plane went down shortly after takeoff in Florida, resulting in multiple fatalities.
In another alarming event, a commercial jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Denver after engine failure caused debris to rain down on residential neighborhoods, fortunately without injuries.
