Four students were killed and 24 others hospitalized when a group of students clashed with the police in southern Nigeria, press reports said Sunday.
Police shot dead four students of Ambrose Alli university in Edo State on Friday in an operation to close the campus as announced by the school authorities, the Guardian newspaper reported.
One of the victims, an official of the student union, was shot three times by the police, said the paper. The others were killed by stray bullets, it added.
Twenty-four other students were in hospital with serious injuries, the paper said.
