Former US senator Paul Simon arrived in Amman on Friday for a four-day visit, during which he will launch the Arabic translation of his book Tapped Out: The Coming World Crisis in Water and What We Can Do About It.
The book was translated by the Arabic book program of the US Embassy in Amman, according to an embassy press release.
The book analyzes the political implications of the water shortage in many parts of the world, particularly in the Middle East. It warns that unless the continued degradation of the water situation in the region is reversed through long-term policies, the shortage may reach catastrophic proportions.
During his stay, the former senator will give a lecture to introduce the main themes of his book, and meet a number of Jordanian officials.
Simon retired from the Senate in 1997 after a long career in public service, said the embassy statement – Albawaba.com
