The former president of the world’s oldest university al-Azhar in Cairo, Ahmad Omar Hashem said on Friday that the national resistance against the occupation with its all forms is legitimate and can’t be described as "terrorism," noting the need for distinguishing between "terrorist acts" and national resistance.
In a statement to Kuwaiti al-Ra’i al-Aam newspaper, Hashem said that it is a great injustice to describe the "martyrdom operations" in Palestine as "terrorist" attacks, stressing that the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli occupation is legitimate and should be supported until restoring the Palestinian legitimate rights.
He also stressed that the resistance operations in Iraq against the American occupation are legitimate calling on the American occupation forces to withdraw immediately from Iraq in order to enable the Iraqi people to exercise their right to self-determination. (Albawaba.com)
