Former Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi has been sentenced to over five years in prison, Reuters reports.
Rahimi was indicted on charges for involvment in a billion-dollar money laundering and embezzlement scheme; however, the exact crimes Rahimi was convicted of were not specified in the report by Iranian state news agency, IRNA.
Courts sentenced Rahimi to five years and 91 days in prison and forced him to pay restitution totalling 38.5 billion rials (about $1.3 million).
