A former Egyptian envoy to the UN, Nabil Al Arabi, has said that his appointment as a judge at the International Court of Justice is “a credit to Egypt and its judiciary system.”

“And it is a credit to Egypt’s contribution to enforcing international law,” the Cairo-based daily Al Ahram quoted him as saying Tuesday.

“I will begin my work at the ICJ headquarters in The Hague on November 12 for a period of four and a half years,” added Arabi.

Arabi is the third Egyptian official chosen for a seat at the ICJ.

The former chief of Jordan’s royal court, Oun Khassawneh, is currently a member of the international tribunal -Albawaba.com
