The public funds intelligence officers in Egypt have arrested a three-man gang that forged US dollars in Italy and promoted them in Egypt, according to the daily Al Akhbar.
The gang whose task was to promote forged dollars in the country consisted of a lawyer, a driver and a vocational training center graduate.
The daily said that the authorities in Al Qalyoubiyyah district have managed to seize two of the gang members carrying 10,500 counterfeit dollars, and an arrest warrant was issued for the third.
Two weeks ago, six university students were also arrested for forgery charges. It was reported that the suspects used computer technology to counterfeit the Egyptian five-pound note.
