At least five Iraqi civilians died and 14 were hurt when a barrage of rockets hit areas near Baghdad's international airport, including the headquarters of the U.S. military, it said on Monday.

The U.S. military said two of its troops were also wounded when the rockets hit its Camp Victory base near Baghdad airport and regions nearby, and that six suspects had been taken in for questioning.

According to Reuters, Major-General Qassim Moussawi, spokesman for Iraq's military in Baghdad, said the bombs hit an area in the mainly Sunni Khadhra district to the west of the airport in the south of the city. Police said they were fired from a neighbouring Shi'ite area.

Iraqi police earlier reported that six to 13 rockets also struck the U.S.-protected Green Zone on Monday afternoon, but the U.S. military official denied that report, according to the AP.

In other violence, a roadside bombing in the northwestern city of Mosul killed three civilians and injured four others, police said.
