Two Egyptians and three Lebanese allegedly involved in forging work permits have been arrested by the Egyptian authorities, according to Al Ahram Arabic daily on Saturday.

The paper quoted officials at the Ministry of Interior as saying the suspects are accused of issuing illegal work permits and job contracts for Egyptians seeking employment in Syria.

They said the suspects had been able to convince their victims of the legality of the contracts by stamping the documents with the official seal of the Ministry of Workforce.

More than 160 documents used in the fraud have been confiscated by the police, which have referred the suspects to court.

The suspected gang used to charge EP1200 ($286) for each contracts – Albawaba.com
