ALBAWABA- A mass shooting at Fort Stewart has left five soldiers injured, prompting a large-scale emergency response and temporarily putting the base on lockdown.

The incident, treated as a mass casualty event, unfolded earlier today, sending soldiers scrambling for shelter amid an active shooter alert.

Military and local law enforcement officials confirmed that five soldiers were shot and have been transported to local hospitals. All five victims are in stable condition, with three undergoing surgery but are expected to recover.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Army Sergeant Quornelius Radford, is in custody. According to sources cited by NBC News, Radford is an active-duty soldier. The motive behind the shooting has not yet been publicly disclosed.

Following the arrest, an "all clear" was issued, and Fort Stewart officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack. Authorities have not indicated whether additional security measures will be implemented in the aftermath.

Fort Stewart, one of the U.S. Army’s largest installations, has experienced rare but serious security incidents in the past. Today’s shooting marks one of the most alarming to occur on the base in recent years.
