According to an official source and the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (SOHR), one person was killed and three others injured Wednesday in a mortar attack at Abu Roummane, which is known as the "embassies neighborhood" in Damascus. This is the first bombing in this district, located not far from the office of the Presidency in the northwest of the Syrian capital.

According to the official SANA news agency, two mortar shells landed Tuesday in the area with no casualties, but the building of the Ministry of Information suffered some damage.

Yesterday, 117 people, including 45 civilians, were killed in violence across Syria. On Wednesday morning, the Syrian army resumed its bombardment of the southern suburbs of Damascus as well as the town of Daraya.

Since the beginning of the conflict, which started 20 months ago, more than 39,000 have died.
