The first meeting of the Syrian-UAE Higher Committee will begin Sunday in Damascus with a focus on bolstering bilateral trade ties, reported the official Kuwaiti news agency, KUNA.

The meeting will be co-chaired by Syrian Planning Minister Khaled Raad and UAE Minister of Information and Culture Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who arrived in Damascus Saturday.

Nahyan told reporters upon arrival that the meeting would center on fostering the privileged bilateral ties, noting that there were many projects and plans on the agenda.

"We are keen [to have] these issues reflect positively on the privileged relations. This is a major issue for us," he said.

A number of agreements will be signed on the sidelines of the committee's meetings, said KUNA – Albawaba.com
