A fire erupted at Cairo's conference center in Nasr City on Wednesday afternoon that injured 22 people, a state news agency reported. Civil protection services flocked to the scene and a military aircraft is assisting with controlling the flames.
The Health Ministry said ten of those injured were treated at the scene while six others were transferred to hospital, adding that the injuries included suffocation, bruises and suspected broken bones, state news agency MENA reported.
The Health Ministry sent 20 ambulances to the scene of the fire.
Sixteen fire trucks were sent to the scene to extinguish the fire, reported state-run al-Ahram.
State television reported that the fire was largely under control.
