ALBAWABA- Violent clashes have erupted in Nawa, Daraa countryside, as dozens of Israeli military vehicles advanced into the area, encountering resistance from Syrian fighters. Videos circulating online depict intense gunfire exchanges.
According to Syrian journalists, six Israeli helicopters have been deployed, while Israeli artillery bombards Syrian positions in Nawa.
Israeli Channel 14 reports that Israeli soldiers were wounded in an ambush west of Nawa.
The incursion coincides with massive Israeli airstrikes targeting Hama and T4 airports, rendering them completely inoperative. Images from Hama airport show aircraft reduced to ashes.
At the same time, reports suggest that Israeli strikes on T4 airport killed at least three Turkish civil engineers working on the rehabilitation of a civilian airport.
Recent reports indicate Turkey's intention to establish a military base at T4 airport as part of a Syrian-Turkish cooperation initiative to counter Israeli airstrikes. Israel perceives this move as a security threat, potentially explaining the recent escalation.
Israeli airstrikes have also hit Damascus' Scientific Research Center, as well as multiple locations in Hama, Homs, and Daraa, signaling a broader military escalation.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Israel's latest attacks, calling them a blatant violation of international law and Syria's sovereignty.
It stated that Israeli airstrikes destroyed the Hama military airport and caused injuries among both civilians and soldiers.
The ministry described the escalation as unjustified and a deliberate attempt to destabilize Syria and prolong the suffering of its people.
It also urged the international community to take action and pressure Israel to halt its aggression and comply with international law.
Meanwhile, analysts suggest that Israel's actions are not only targeting Iranian presence in Syria, as previously claimed, but also expanding to challenge Turkish involvement, further destabilizing the region.
