A wave of blasts hit two Shi’ite districts in Baghdad on Thursday, killing at least 24 people raising fears that Sunni groups are stepping up attacks after the US troop withdrawal.
The attacks started with the blast of a bomb attached to a motorcycle near a bus stop in the Sadr city area. The blast killed eight people, police said.
This attack was followed by the blast of a roadside bomb nearby that killed another person.
Less than two hours later, two explosions hit the Shi’ite district of Kazimiyah in the north of the capital, killing 14 people.
At least 60 wounded in the blasts.
