One of the region’s premium automobile companies has introduced a programme to trim energy costs and help the environment by reducing carbon dioxide emissions at its state of the art workshop in Dubai.
Al Nabooda Automobiles, the exclusive distributor for Volkswagen, Porsche and Audi in Dubai, has teamed-up with Farnek Avireal and installed a new energy saving module at its latest technical workshop in Al Rashidya.
“The VW workshop is over 10,000 square metres and is one of the biggest of its kind in the world,” said Thierry Seys, General Manager – Projects, Al Nabooda Automobiles.
“We chose this particular site because the potential savings were the greatest. It was also a case of synergy, this hi-tech facility deserves a state of the art energy saving module,” added Seys.
Supporting Al Nabooda Automobiles’ cost cutting and environmental initiatives, is leading United Arab Emirates total facilities management company Farnek Avireal. The pioneering company has already won an Emirates Energy Award for research after conducting a survey last year which showed five-star hotels in Dubai used up to 225% more energy than their counterparts in Europe.
“Al Nabooda Automobiles has made a convincing business case for installing our energy saving module. The return on investment (ROI) is just 21 months. In addition many automobile manufacturers are looking at ways to reduce carbon emissions from car exhausts – Al Nabooda has shown its sustainability credentials by going one step further…reducing the carbon footprint of their workshops,” commented Raj Dhanjal, Operations Director, Avireal Middle East.
Indeed, Al Nabooda Automobiles is now considering installing energy saving modules in all of its future developments.
“After an extensive energy audit, we found that we could make energy savings of over 24%. With DEWA’s new slab system tariff, we will make substantial savings in excess of AED 300,000 over the next 5 years – and that’s from just one site,” remarked Seys.
Farnek Avireal maintains over 500 buildings accommodating in excess of one million square metres. They clean more than 500,000 square metres of commercial and residential space. They protect over 100 properties in Dubai, keep 100 installations fully operational and can reduce buildings’ energy costs by up to 25%.
