An explosion was reported in the Palestinian Authority-controlled city of Nablus at noon on Wednesday.
Initial reports indicated that a cellular telephone store was lightly damaged, and Palestinian sources reported that at least one man was injured in the blast, reported the Jerusalem Post.
The storeowner, Ahmed Ma'ani, 42, suffered moderate injuries in the explosion, they said.
For reasons as yet unknown, Ma'ani was handling explosive material which unexpectedly detonated, according to the report.
Palestinian police sappers were investigating the circumstances of the incident.
PA security officials would not discuss the possible cause of the blast, but kept the injured man under tight guard at a city hospital.
In the past, Islamic militants have frequently used mobile phones to trigger explosives planted in Israel, said the Jerusalem Post.
Ma'ani's neighbors were quoted as saying that that he was not involved in any Palestinian organizations – Albawba.com
