ALBAWABA - An explosion was recently heard near the Russian consulate in France's southern port city, Marseille, as firemen were spotted at the site of the incident, according to Reuters and local media. 

Local authorities confirmed that an incendiary device exploded outside Masteille's Russian consulate but no injuries were confirmed by the time of reporting. The Guardian states that a second explosive device was also thrown but it didn't detonate. 

According to Reuters, the suspect used three soda bottles as the incendiary device.

The suspect fled the scene but local authorities launched an investigation to locate them. While authorities didn't provide any details about the suspect but an official said in a statement that they're not authorized to reveal their identity if found. 

The foreign ministry spokesperson of Russia, Maria Zakharova described the incident as "all the hallmarks of a terrorist attack."
