Exchange of fire reported between Israel and Egypt near Rafah crossing

ALBAWABA - According to a report by the Israeli Channel 14, an exchange of fire has been reported between Egyptian and Israeli forces near Rafah crossing, with injuries reported without any confirmed numbers yet.

In the latest update from the Israeli website Walla, two Egyptians have been killed in the exchange of fire. One of those killed is believed to be an Egyptian soldier.

Israeli reports confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the matter in cooperation with the Egyptian side.

According to Israeli reports, security and military supervision has been imposed on the Rafah crossing after Egyptian soldiers unexpectedly fired at Israeli troops causing several injuries.

This was first reported as a "security incident" near the Rafah crossing before reports emerged of an exchange of fire between Egyptian and Israeli troops, which is believed to have been initiated from the Egyptian side. 

It was later revealed that the Egyptian side targeted an Israeli convoy which in return replied with heavy fire.
