INT@j (Information Technology Association of Jordan) and The Building and Extending Skills Training Systems (BEST Project a project funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)), held a one day workshop training focused on the issue of HR development; the title of the workshop was “Excellence in HR” ,the workshop took place on the 17th of November at Landmark Hotel Amman and was led by Mr. Osama Al-Sharif, an HR expert.

 The workshop, was attended by 45 HR manager approximately from different local ICT companies, focused on introducing the latest international best-practices in the area of HR management.

The workshop assisted INT@j as well other ICT companies to better understanding of the needs and requirements of the local HR managers and resources.  The output of this workshop will be used to design and rollout the new activities and events in the near future.

Mr. Abed Shamlawi, CEO of INT@j, expressed the significance of the agreement saying: “It reflects Intaj’s efforts that aim at establishing solid partnerships which benefit all parties concerned with the purpose of serving the human resources development efforts in the information and communications technology sector.”

On the other hand, Dr. John Knapp, the BEST Project Manager expressed his excitement about this agreement saying: “The development of human resources is critically important in order for organizations to meet their goals.  There are significant pressures on the human resource department from both inside and outside the organization.  The ability of this department to proactively find solutions in light of these challenges is important.  This initiative, which brings together INTAJ and BEST, should prove to be helpful in this regard.”

Int@j is a voluntary non-profit, private organization representing, promoting and advancing the Jordanian software and IT services industry in the global market.  As an industry-support association membership is open to all companies operating in Jordan in the fields of software development, support, application, telecommunications, value-added assembly and distribution of ICT products and services, and is also open to the suppliers and users of these industries, along with universities and other parties supporting ICT training and promotion.

Building and Extending Skills Training Systems (BEST) is a project that builds upon the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) past involvement in the reform of Employment, Technical, Vocational Education and Training (E-TVET) sector in Jordan. The BEST Project started in October 2008 and is scheduled to end in 2012 and is managed by SIAST (Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology).  BEST, working in close partnership with the Ministry of Labour, provides strategic, technical and advisory assistance in critical E-TVET policy and capacity building areas linked to The National Agenda.
