Every year, The Collectors exhibition brings up rare and unique collections by individuals that share the passion of collecting. One such collection this year is the 'Evian Bottle Designer' collection.
Marie Capucine Akilian is participating this year with a unique collection of designed bottles made by Evian water. Her collection of bottles started in 2001 and continues to date. Among this exceptional assortment of bottles, Marie has brought a very unique and limited Haute Couture bottle edition designed by Christian Lacroix.
This bottle –designed in the shape of a doll – is one of only 100 bottles worldwide. The price of the bottle exceeds $20,000 as it is mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records that two of the bottles only were sold in the region, one in the UAE for $23,000 and the other one in Saudi Arabia for approximately $30,000.
The Collectors, a DSS signature event, runs until July 24 at BurJuman, a key sponsor of this year's DSS. Collections displayed this year include old manuscripts and books about UAE and local culture from the Juma Al Majid Centre for Culture and Heritage, branded vintage sunglasses, antique radios from different countries, DSS branded telephone cards, stamps, coins, paper money, classic cars, and modified cars.
A highlight of this year's collection is the range of classic cars on display. Around 30 in number, the cars will cover the entire first floor of BurJuman. Also of special interest is a collection of garments worn by the prolific Lebanese singer Sabah, known across the Arab world as the 'singing bird'.
