Etihad Airways is increasing its three flights a week between Abu Dhabi and Jeddah to daily from 25 March.
The national airline of the UAE, which currently operates three flights a week on the route, will offer four afternoon flights and three night flights on a two-zone Boeing B777-300ER and Airbus A340-300 aircraft until the end of October.
The increased flying programme is a result of successful talks between aviation officials from the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive officer, congratulated the governments of the UAE and Saudi Arabia for allowing Etihad to offer more flights between the two cities.
He said: “The two countries are great trading partners and there is a significant demand at both ends of the route for more flights. We are honoured to be able to provide those extra seats at the end of March.”
Flight EY311 departs from Abu Dhabi at 1.45pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Jeddah at 3.35pm. Flight EY312 returns from Jeddah on the same days, departing Jeddah at 5.00pm and arriving in the UAE capital at 8.40pm.
Complementing the day flights is EY313, which operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, departing Abu Dhabi at 2.00am and arriving in Jeddah at 3.35am. On the return flight EY314 departs Jeddah at 4.50am and lands in Abu Dhabi at 8.30am. All timings are local.
