Erdogan makes his mark at NATO summit with extensive diplomatic pressure

ALBAWABA – President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan actively engaged in numerous bilateral meetings during the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit in Washington, D.C., highlighting Turkey's role in international diplomacy.

During the summit, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Erdoğan met with key leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

In his meeting with German Chancellor Scholz, Erdoğan stated that pressure should be applied to Israel to end its attacks on Gaza and to seize the opportunity for a ceasefire, emphasizing the importance of increasing efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading in the region.

President Erdoğan also expressed that Turkey expects support from Germany to revitalize Turkey's EU membership process.

In discussions with Ukrainian President Zelensky, Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey's dedication to achieving a just peace in the Ukraine-Russia war. He announced efforts to revive the Black Sea Grain Initiative and expressed Turkey's readiness to mediate to facilitate peace.
