Turkish Prime Minister Recept Tayyip Erdogan met with Hamas chief Khalid Mashaal Tuesday in Ankara, according to the Associated Press.
The two leaders are scheduled to discuss "regional developments" according to one of Erdogan's aides. No additional details were provided, but this visit represents the third time that Mashaal has visited the Turkish capital since September 2012. Previously, the two leaders have met to discuss reconciliation efforts between Fatah and Hamas.
The Turkish president also recently announced that it has never allowed al-Qaeda affiliated groups in Syria to launch attacks against Damascus and the regime, according to AFP reports. The Prime Minister's comments come in response to Syrian President Assad's comments accusing Ankara of "turning a blind eye" to terrorists.
