Lahudood, owned by His Highness Shiekh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, claimed a three quarter length win in the US$ 2 million Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Monmouth Park Racecourse, New Jersey, on Saturday afternoon.

Ridden by Alan Garcia and trained by former UAE Champion Kiaran McLaughlin, Lahudood was always up with the action and took the lead just over 400 metres out. The son of the 1997 Dubai World Cup winner Singspiel, crossed the line ahead of the fast finishing Honey Ryder with the Henry Cecil-trained Passage of Time a neck back in third and Nashoba’s Key in fourth.

The rain continued to fall throughout the meeting and it was a very wet track that faced the 12 runners in the US$2 million Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Distaff over 1,800 metres. Honours went to the Bobby Frankel-trained joint favourite Ginger Punch, the mount of Rafael Bejarano.

Ginger Punch battled hard to get up on the line to win by a neck from Hystericalady with Octave a further neck back in third.

Emirates, the Dubai-based global airline, is an Official Partner of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. International racing now moves to Australia for the Emirates Melbourne Cup Carnival which begins on Saturday, with the Emirates Melbourne Cup being run on the 6th November.
