The Euro-Jordanian Advanced Business Institute (EJABI) held a seminar titled “Change Management in a Complex Environment.” The seminar was held by Dr. Yaser Abdul Hadi, Executive Director of EJABI for industrial managers and directors. Dr. Yaser Abdul Hadi highlighted the means necessary to undertake change management and its implication on work relations in the Kingdom. Other speakers included Eng. Mervat Hadidi who discussed NLP (Neuro-Lingustic Program), a study on the structure of how humans think and experience the world.
Dr. Abdul Hadi stressed that change management in a complex environment is an administrative exercise that undergoes the shift from the status-quo and current methods of addressing complex issues to a new progression. The change may be intentional or a new way of approaching a problem. The transition requires a series of steps which includes: addressing and solving problems, outlining goals and objectives, implementing and evaluating the objectives and placing a separate strategic plan for the transition. These steps provide alternatives that are applicable to finding solutions, gaining support and loyalty, making the correct decision as well as monitoring the business.
Dr. Abdul Hadi also underlined the successful methods businessmen utilize to implement change and the ADKAR Change Management Model in Jordan’s business environment. The Executive Director also expressed the importance of using stronger synonyms than ‘change’ due to the negative connotation it has in the Arab world. Therefore using terms such as “developments” will remove the immediacy and negativity implied in ‘change.’ Dr. Yaser Abdul Hadi also provided an analogy stating that even in the world of technology, development rather than change is taking place.
