A five-story building collapsed in Damietta, located north of Cairo on Monday, killing eight people and injuring 15, police said.

According to AP, building collapses are not unusual in Egypt, and are often blamed on shoddy construction or the unauthorized addition of extra stories. The aging building had stood along the Nile in the center of the town. (Albawaba.com)
