An exhibition of replicas of Egyptian ancient arts and history is touring North America, and is currently being hosted by the US state of Colorado.

The show is supervised by Tareq Ragab, president of the Egyptian Art Center in Cairo, who resigned his military post nearly 20 years ago when the country decided that the contents of King Tut's tomb would never again leave Egypt.

The last time that exhibit came to America was a long run in San Francisco in 1980, Ragab told Chieftain.com.

"From that time, I started to make my replicas," he said.

The exhibit made its Canadian debut in 1992 and began annual American tours a few years later.

This year's stops included a fair in Maryland. From here, the exhibit will go to Massachusetts and then Florida before flying back home to Cairo.

The exhibit contains replicas and a few originals covering Egyptian history from the first dynasty of King Harmer through those who faced the Romans, Greeks, Arabs, British and French.

There were 31 royal dynasties in all, Ragab explained, adding that Egypt was the world's superpower through the 18th century BC, when Greek and Roman rulers "started giving their attention to their pleasures and their trade and neglecting their military."

Ancient history is the focus of Ragab's exhibit, which includes replicas of everything from the Rosetta Stone to the funeral carriages of King Tut and a giant granite statue of Raises II, said the reports – Albawaba.com
