The Egyptian Ministry of Interior said on Monday that fugitive Abd Rabboh, one of those accused of riddling a high-ranking intelligence officer with bullets in the town Toukh, had strong ties with 14 arms and drug dealers, reported Al Gomhuria Arabic daily on Tuesday.
Rabboh met the dealers while in prison, said ministry officials.
As part of the manhunt for Abd Rabboh under the direct supervision of Minister of Interior Habib Al Adly, security forces in all districts are scouring the land for recently freed prisoners, said the daily.
Security forces this week captured an armed gang in Dakahliyyah after an exchange of fire.
One policeman was wounded and one of the gang members was killed during the fight, and the rest of the gang members were arrested.
The criminal records of those detained reveal that they were involved in arm sales and resistance to the security forces.
The captured individuals include Naser Ramadhan Mohammed Eid, Ibrahim Abdel Hamid Al Basyoyuni and Khaled Afifi, all of whom have criminal records.
Security forces in Alexandria have also captured Husam Afifi and Mahmoud Said Mahmoud, who are accused of shooting at the police, car theft, arms deals and other crimes.
