Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak is due to travel to the United States next month for talks about the Middle East crisis with United States President George W. Bush and top aides, sources close to Mubarak said Thursday.
During his visit, which is to begin June 8th, Mubarak will also meet with US Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, they said, according to AFP.
Bush had invited President Mubarak for "detailed" discussions on the Middle East, during a telephone conversation on May 7th, according to the Egyptian press.
The Egyptian president last visited the United States in March.
Mubarak, whose government is a key US ally in the Middle East, hosted talks in Sharm el-Sheikh on May 11th with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah.
The leaders ended their mini-summit with a rejection of "all forms of violence" in a bid to revive hopes of peace with Israel, an appeal diplomats said included a call to end Palestinian suicide bombings inside Israel. (Albawaba.com)
