Gunmen shot and injured an Egyptian policeman guarding a warehouse of goods seized en route to tunnels near the Gaza Strip border, security sources said on Tuesday. The 21-year-old policeman, named as Fathi Salman Mohamed, was rushed to hospital in the border town of Rafah on Monday night with a wound in his right shoulder and is in a stable condition, they said, according to Reuters.

The gunmen escaped but police assume they are smugglers, who have attacked similar warehouses in the past, they said.
