ALBAWABA - The Egyptian Navy has assumed command of the Combined Maritime Force to navigate the Red Sea waters, the first time that Egypt undertakes such a role.

the Egyptian Navy has assumed command of the Joint Task Force (153), whose tasks are to counter smuggling and confront illegal activities, especially terrorist activities, in the areas of (the Red Sea - Bab al-Mandab- Gulf of Aden)
The SMF is a Bahrain-based 34-nation maritime coalition, which includes the United States. It 's duties are mainly to combat terrorism, stamp out piracy and enforce regional maritime cooperation, according to Anadolu.

This is the first time that the Egyptian navy leads the coalition, and patrols the Red Sea waters, Bab El Mandeb straits and the Gulf of Aden.
