The Egyptian song Mish Ayez Amshi (I Don’t Want to Leave) won the Golden Microphone Award at the 8th Arab Music Festival.
Poet Jamal Bakheet, composer Ali Sleiman, and singer Riham Abdul Hakim were presented with the Award together with a check for $6000.
Meanwhile, the three Awards of Encouragement, each worth $3000, went to Syrian Hamam Kheiri for Best Performance in his Ara’f Bi Haly (I Take it Easy), and Shawqi Abdul Hakim for the Best Composition in Ya Basima (Basima).
The third and final award went to Best Lyrics winner, the Jordanian Haidar Mahmoud, for his song Akher Album (The Last Album), performed by Suleiman Aboud.
The awards were presented at a celebration on Monday at the Baloon Theater in Cairo.
Fifteen male and female singers from 14 different Arab countries participated in the festival.
Meanwhile, singer Ali Hajjar proved his great dedication to his art by singing at the festival’s closing ceremony, despite the fact that his father had just died.
Hajjar, the guest of honor who had received word of his father’s death only two hours before the performance, was told that the show must go on, as it was aired live on television -Albawaba.com.
