Egypt's public prosecutor referred former information minister Salah Abdel Maqsud to trial for offering state television equipment to a satellite channel who broadcast pro-Morsi demonstrations, according to an AFP report.
Egyptian media reports say that the information minister provided the equipment to Al-Jazeera television who was covering pro-Morsi protests prior to Morsi's oust in July.
Almost immediately after Morsi's overthrow, Police raided the offices and seized equipment from Al-Jazeera's Egyptian affiliate, Mubasher Misr. The channel was forced to close following an order issued from a Cairo court in September.
Egyptian authorities and the media have overwhelmingly accused Al-Jazeera of "biased reporting" on the overthrow of the former Islamist president.
