Egyptian screenwriter Fayez Ghali has just finished writing what is destined to become one of this year’s most controversial Egyptian movies in the Arab world.

The movie talks about a Israeli Prisoner of War, Assaf Yajouri, who was caught during the 1937 Egypt-Israel war.

The movie Al Thamin Min October (October 8th), depicts the day the famous Tank War took place, which ended with the capture of Yajouri.

According to ‘Al Sharq El Awsat’ newspaper, Ghali said that for his script, he depended mostly on extensive recordings of the POW’s experiences with the Second Foot Soldiers group, headed by Leiutenant Hamdi Al Hadidi.

This group is famous for holding on through 12 continuous hours of war with the Israeli general between 12 noon until late at night.

Ghali also added that he would like it if this movie received the same success as that of his last movie, Al Tareeq Ila Ilat (The Road to Ilat).

Ilat was released three years ago. It starred Izzat Al Aleily, Salah Thul Fiqar, Madeline Tabr and Abdullah Mahmoud. Ina’am Mohammad directed and Egyptian Television produced the movie. It is speculated that Egyptian TV will also produce Ghali’s new movie. However, the writer has yet to choose his new stars and directors.

For the role of the Israeli general, fingers are pointing towards actor Muhye Ismael – Albawaba.com.
