Egypt plans to increase joint military exercises with Arab and Western countries, reported the Middle East Newsline.
Officials said Egyptian leaders had concluded that the exercises would improve the performance of the military, and that they would seek additional maneuvers with foreign countries over the next few years.
Defense Minister Hussein Tantawi was quoted as saying that the military was seeking to win the cooperation of Arab and European Union countries for exercises and joint training.
Egypt currently has annual exercises with Saudi Arabia.
Tantawi said Cairo would also seek to improve military cooperation with the US, reported the newsline - Albawaba.com
