Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak made a short, unscheduled visit in Tripoli Saturday to brief Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi on diplomatic efforts to prevent a US-led war against Iraq, and also hold talks on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
JANA news agency reported that the leaders "discussed the threats against the Iraqi and Palestinian people" and emphasized the "necessity of adopting a unified Arab position to spare the Iraqis the ravages of war."
Mubarak was accompanied to Libya by Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher, advisor Safuat el-Sherif and intelligence chief Omar Suleiman.
On the Libyan side, Foreign Minister Abdel Rahmane Shagham and African Unity Minister Ali Abdel Salam Triki also attended the meeting. (Albawaba.com)
