Egypt denies air raids in Libya's Tripoli

Egypt's foreign ministry denied Sunday reports that Egyptian military aircraft bombed locations controlled by militias in Tripoli, Libya, a ministry statement read. 

"These reports are void of any truth and have no basis," the statement added.

The foreign ministry, according to the statement, is closely following developments in Libya and hoping for the speedy formation of a Libyan national government after the election of a parliament.

AFP reported Saturday that Libyan Islamists, who seized Tripoli Airport, accused the United Arab Emirates and Egypt of involvement in two air raids against their forces in the past week, describing it as a "cowardly aggression."

The Libyan Islamists also accused Libya's provisional government and new parliament of being accomplices to the raids.
