Egypt to Help Jordan Set up Nuclear Station

Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Ali AL Saedi said on Wednesday that experts from the Egyptian Nuclear Energy Agency will extend assistance to Jordan to establish a Jordanian Atomic Agency and groom technical cadres to conduct operations of radiological detection and survey, reported Egypt Online Thursday.  

The minister said that an agreement was reached during the meeting of the Egyptian-Jordanian higher committee to activate cooperation in the nuclear field.  

The meeting took place Wednesday in Amman where the two sides reached agreements of cooperation between them 

The minister said that the meeting took up the possibility of benefiting from the Egyptian expertise in the field of operating the Jordanian research reactor Amman received from China. 

Jordan has sought assistance from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for the experimental reactor, which is part of a civil nuclear program launched by Amman in 1986 – Albawaba.com
