A senior Egyptian source denied earlier reports published in the Israeli press that a secret plan was underway to exchange an Israeli accused of spying against Egypt for eight Egyptians being held in Israel.

The report in an Israeli newspaper claimed that Israeli Azzam Azzam would be exchanged for eight Egyptians captured by Israeli commandos on the weapons ship, Karine-A.

The Egyptian denial, published Thursday in the London-based A Sharq al Awsat newspaper said that Egypt rejects any attempt to interfere with its legal system. (Albawaba.com)
