A senior Egyptian health official said the death toll from the weekend's devastating rock slide that buried a shanty town on Cairo's outskirts has now reached 62. According to the AP, Mohammed Sultan, head of emergency services at the Health Ministry, said the number of injured in Saturday's rock slide is around 60. Many other bodies are feared buried under the rubble.

In his comments Wednesday, Sultan added that several emergency workers were also injured in the process of digging out the victims. Eyewitnesses added that the neighborhood's residents hurled stones at a government delegation visiting the site on Tuesday, frustrated with the delays in the rescue operation.
