Egypt is looking forward to Cyprus' accession to the European Union as it counts on the role Cyprus can play between the Middle East and Europe, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Dr. Mohamed Shaaban said in Nicosia Tuesday, after the signing of a protocol on regular political consultations between the two countries.
The Protocol, which was signed by the Egyptian diplomat and the Permanent Secretary of Cyprus Foreign Ministry Christodoulos Pasiardis, was the result of discussions between delegations of the two ministries, Cyprus news agency CNA reported.
After the discussions, Dr. Shaaban met with Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides.
Replying to questions on the content of the Protocol, Dr. Shaaban said it includes bilateral cooperation in the political, economic and scientific fields, as well as cultural cooperation with annual meetings in both countries. (Albawaba.com)
