Police General Mohamed Said, head of the technical office of the interior minister, has been killed by gunmen, reported Al-Ahram's Arabic news website early Tuesday.
“General Mohamed Said, head of the technical office of the minister of interior, was targeted by gunmen inside a car who shot him and fled,” said one of the officials, according to Reuters news agency.
Two assailants riding a motorcycle targeted General Mohamed Said, head of the minister's technical office, while he was leaving his home near the governorate building and Talbia police station, the interior ministry said in a statement, according to Ahram Online.
He was an aide to Interior Minister Mohammad Ibrahim, who survived an assassination attempt last year, according to Al Arabiya.
The number of violent attacks against Egyptian officials have increased in the last six months since the ouster of former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
