Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Sharaa met in the coastal governorate of Marsa Matrouh on Thursday with Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak.
The two discussed the latest Arab issues within the framework of constant coordination and consultation between the two countries, according to the Kuwait news agency.
Reports claimed that Sharaa, who began his visit Wednesday night, would deliver a letter to President Mubarak from his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad over the latest regional developments.
The Syrian minister arrived in Egypt from Saudi Arabia, in a show of Syrian support to both Arab regimes, long-time allies of the United States which have recently been stung by criticism from within the superpower.
Upon his arrival, al-Sharaa met with his Egyptian counterpart Ahmad Maher. They reviewed issues concerning the Middle East peace process and the situation in Iraq, KUNA said. (Albawaba.com)
