Moroccan Prime Minister Driss Jettou held talks in Brussels Tuesday with European Commission (EC) President Romano Prodi on political and economic cooperation.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, both officials stressed joint desire to further enhance bilateral relations in various domains.
Prodi said both sides were working together to combat terrorism and that the Europeans were satisfied with the pace of economic reforms in Morocco, the Kuwait news agency reported.
He said the EU was also helping Rabat cope with standards of the 15-member union.
Jettou, for his part, said that the fact Morocco has chosen the EU as a partner showed it selected a type of society and respect for human rights.
The Moroccan Premier also said his country was keen on accelerating economic reforms. He said the EU was Morocco’s prime economic and political partner.
KUNA added that regarding the Middle east peace process, Jettou said the “roadmap” should be implemented to bring an end to violence.
Asked on deployment of international forces, he said that Rabat would back all solutions for the peace process, which would be accepted by the Palestinian Authority. (Albawaba.com)
