Earthquake hits Italy's Naples, damages buildings

ALBAWABA - Italian officials said on Thursday that a 4.4-magnitude quake hit Naples city in Italy on Wednesday night.

The earthquake left one person injured, however, a slight injury. Authorities in the area further noted that some buildings were damaged by the quake, which caused panic among residents.

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) confirmed that the main quake happened at 1:25 a.m. local time at a depth of 2.5 kilometres in Naples. Then, a series of smaller tremors were reported.

Photos and videos were shared online showing vehicles covered with debris and destroyed due to the earthquake that caused buildings to get damaged. 

One person was injured by the collapse of a false ceiling, the civil protection agency confirmed and added the injury was not serious.
