ALBAWABA - Multiple strong earthquakes hit off the coast of Russia's far east on Sunday, triggering a tsunami warning, the US Geological Survey revealed.
First, 5.0-magnitude and 6.7-magnitude earthquakes struck the Russian coast; however, they didn't trigger a tsunami alert, but were followed by a 7.4-magnitude quake at 0849 GMT, prompting the USGS to warn that "hazardous tsunami waves are forecast for some coasts".
Earlier on Sunday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported on Sunday that a 6.7-magnitude earthquake had struck 130 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia.
However, the quake didn't trigger a tsunami alert, the USGS further mentioned in its report.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the earthquake was reported at a depth of 10 km.
